Description
SFT-Connector Applications
- ICF walls – non-corrosive, non-conductive ties through the foam.
- Insulated sandwich panels – fastens the two concrete layers through the insulation on horizontal casts (precast and tilt-up) and vertical casts (modular panels).
- Slabs and other concrete structures where a GFRP shear connector is specified.
Three Connector Types
Type I – SFT-Bar Connector
GFRP threaded bar with a high-impact, alkali-resistant polymer collar injection-molded at the centre. The collar creates the holding and sealing section at the insulation layer. Diameter 10 mm. Colour white. Length customized.

Type II: SFT-FlatConnector
GFRP flat-bar connector with the same style of polymer collar. Formed from about 78% glass and 22% vinyl ester polymer by weight (evaluated per ASTM D3172). Non-conductive and non-corrosive. Nominal coefficient of thermal expansion about 5×10−65×10−6 in/in/°F (1×10−51×10−5 mm/mm/°C). Tension tests referenced to ASTM D3039. Diameter 10 mm. Length customized.

Type III: SFT-ContinousShearConnector
GFRP threaded shear connector. Diameter 10 mm. Colour white/black. Length customized. Published strengths below are for the straight portion.

Benefits
- Non-corrosive GFRP — no rust staining or section loss at the tie.
- Non-conductive — useful on walls near electrical equipment or where thermal bridging from steel ties is a concern.
- Alkali-resistant collar and connector system; manufacturer aging tests cited at over 100 years.
- Custom lengths matched to insulation thickness and wythe build-up.
- Lightweight versus steel ties — easier handling on ICF and precast beds.
