SFT-Bar® GFRP rebar — glass fiber reinforced polymer reinforcement

SKU: N/A

SFT-Bar® is SFTec’s glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebar for concrete. CoresupplyX supplies it as an authorized distributor, with the same mechanical properties, grades, and ICC-ES evaluation (ESR-5081 / EER-5081) published by the manufacturer.

SFT-Bar is produced from continuous glass fibers in a polymer matrix and is intended for structures that need corrosion resistance, lower weight, or electromagnetic neutrality. It is approximately one-quarter the weight of steel, non-conductive, and free of the rust-expansion mechanism that shortens the service life of steel-reinforced concrete in aggressive environments.

Description

Key benefits

  • Non-corrosive in marine, de-icing salt, wastewater, and industrial exposures
  • High tensile strength (see table)
  • Tensile modulus typically 46–70 GPa (ASTM D7205); grades distinguished under CSA S807
  • Excellent long-term bond to concrete
  • Thermal and electrical insulator; non-magnetic
  • Transport and site-handling savings versus steel
  • Factory bends, stirrups, spirals, and custom shapes (field bending after cure is not permitted)

Tensile properties use nominal cross-sectional areas. Confirm the latest manufacturer sheet for project submittals. Designers should use CSA S806 / S807, ACI 440.11, and ASTM D7957 as applicable. Grade selection follows modulus: Grade I (about 40 GPa) is commonly used for non-structural flatwork; Grade II (about 50 GPa) and Grade III (about 60 GPa) for higher-demand structural elements.

Rebar Forms / Shapes

Straight bar, closed ties, V or U shapes, spirals, echelon shapes, and hollow bar. Diameters commonly from about 4–40 mm straight and 6–36 mm for many bent shapes; lengths customized.

Installation notes

Cut with a grinder, saw, or manual cutter – do not shear. Wear a dust mask. Use factory bends. Chair and tie per the project drawings and FRP design guide. Two-way shear should be checked in slabs and footings.
